Community

I am a lifelong resident of Lake County with nearly 37 years of experience practicing law, preparing me extensively for the role of Lake County Common Pleas Judge. Throughout my career, I have honed my skills through a diverse range of legal proceedings, including 138 jury trials and thousands of motions to suppress, preliminary hearings, and bench trials. My commitment to justice extends beyond advocacy; I have also served as an acting judge in Mentor and Painesville, presiding over significant cases, including two jury trials.

In recognition of my expertise, I have been appointed as a special prosecutor in both Chardon and Willoughby, further illustrating my dedication to upholding the law with integrity and impartiality. The Common Pleas Court, where I seek to serve, handles all felony cases and civil matters exceeding $15,000.00 in damages. My extensive courtroom experience uniquely qualifies me to make informed and fair decisions in complex trials, ensuring that justice is served according to the law.

I am passionate about applying my deep understanding of the law and judicial process to benefit the Lake County community, fostering a fair and equitable legal environment that upholds the rights of all individuals.

Family

I have proudly raised our family here in Lake County, alongside my son Joe and daughter Elizabeth. Joe pursued his education at Purdue University, where he earned a degree in cybersecurity. He now applies his expertise as a private contractor for the United States Air Force, contributing to national security through his specialized skills.

Elizabeth, following in my legal footsteps, attended Ohio State University for her undergraduate studies and later earned her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State Law School. She currently serves as an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Cleveland, passionately advocating for justice and public safety in our community.

As a devoted parent and role model, I have instilled in both Joe and Elizabeth a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, and a deep-seated respect for the law. Their achievements reflect not only their dedication but also the values we hold dear as a family rooted in Lake County.

Education

At Mentor High School, I laid the foundation for my academic journey, excelling in various subjects and extracurricular activities that sparked my interest in political science. Pursuing my passion further, I enrolled at Youngstown State University, where I deepened my understanding of political theories, international relations, and public policy. My undergraduate years provided a robust framework for critical thinking and analytical skills that continue to serve me well.

Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Juris Doctor degree at Cleveland State University. The JD program equipped me with comprehensive legal knowledge, honed my advocacy skills, and prepared me for a career in law.
